Spatial-dispersion and relativistic effects in the optical sum rules

چکیده
We describe a procedure to take into account the spatial dispersion of the optical excitations in the susceptibility sum rules. We show that this implies that relativistic corrections of the same order must be considered. The final result is a decrease of the total oscillator strength equal to the ratio of the average electron kinetic energy with mc. We propose experiments with synchrotron radiation sources on crystals of heavy elements to observe the described effect. Investigation and Simulation of the Effects of Dispersion and Transmittance angles on the Solar Cells Quantum Efficiency
In this paper the effects of transmittance, dispersion angle and diffusion length on the quantum efficiency of solar cells (QESC) have been simulated and investigated. Optical path technic is used for simulation. The results show that base thickness, diffusion length, dispersion angle, number of optical confinement path and transmission angles have an extremely effects on the QESC. Simulation r...
متن کاملNuclear binding effects in relativistic Coulomb sum rules.
We extend the formulation of relativistic Coulomb sum rules to account for the average effects of nuclear binding on the initial and final states of ejected nucleons. Relativistic interactions are included by using a Dirac representation adapted from a vector-scalar field theory. The scalar field reduces the effective nucleon mass M * and increases the relativistic effects of recoil and Fermi m...
متن کاملPropagation and Interaction of Electrostatic and Electromagnetic Waves in Two Stream Free Electron Laser in the Presence of Self-Fields
A relativistic theory for two-stream free electron laser (FEL) with a one-dimensional helical wiggler and ion-channel guiding in the presence of self-fields are presented. A dispersion relation (DR) which includes coupling between the electromagnetic and the electrostatic waves is derived from a fluid model, with all of the relativistic terms related to the transverse wiggler motion. This DR is...
متن کاملImprovement of Optical Properties in Hexagonal Index-guiding Photonic Crystal Fiber for Optical Communications
Waveguides with low confinement loss, low chromatic dispersion, and low nonlinear effects are used in optical communication systems. Optical fibers can also be employed in such systems. Besides optical fibers, photonic crystal fibers are also highly suitable transmission media for optical communication systems. In this paper, we introduce two new designs of index-guiding photonic crystal fiber ...
متن کاملDispersion and Nonlinearity in Ultra-Optical Ga2O3 and TiO2-Bi2O3-PbO Glass Systems
Dispersion, as the characteristic variation of refractive index with wavelength, is more pronounced, where the wavelength is approaching to the absorption band. In ultra-optical glasses, the nonlinear refractive index, concerning to the light intensity dependent phenomenon, becomes considerable. Here, two ultra-optical property glass systems; TiO2-Bi2O3-PbO (TBP...
